What is the most effective thing an over 40 something can do for weight loss?

3d Font Question Issue Question Mark

I have been told so many times
That its hard to know exactly what to do
Or knowing what to do
And  opting for what’s comfortable
If you want to know what is effective in the gym
Watch what personal trainers get their clients to do
Hint it’s very, very rarely cardio
Sometimes they just seem like an easy option
Climb on, have something to destract you
And watch the calories burnt number clock up
But the ultimate
For effecting metabolism
Changing shape, not just slimmer
Strengthening core muscles
Improving mobilty
Increasing bone density
Burning calories after you have finished exercising
And heart healthy if you do it a certain way
Is strength training
Yes it’s a bit more complicated
Yes you may need to choose certain exercises if you have back or joint issues
Yes there are a huge amount of different exercises
But if you consistently do a couple of sessions a week
It will have a big effect
All the benefits I mentioned
I reckon it’s the only reason I get away with consuming a few too many calories sometimes
To be honest, there are only a few great exercises which a programme can be built around
That don’t put strain on the body
That have loads of variations to suit the individual
I use them myself
And prescribe them to help people make progress

Regular exercise and yoga may be helpful for weight loss after 40’s.

If it burns calories it helps, especially if it helps you burn more calories at rest, but none of that works unless you watch the calories you put in!
