The Mums I have helped, who have lost weight and changed shape have always seen the time they spend exercising or focussed on healthy lifestyle as time for them.
I have always advised that, but obviously I am a bloke, so I don’t expect to be taken too seriously 🙂
So don’t take it from me, here is what celebrity Busy Mum Davina Mc Call says on the subject!
She says: “I work full-time, often long hours. I have three children and a husband, so keeping fit can be a struggle to fit in, but I always make time for something.
“I’ve always said I want to look good for my age, I don’t want to look 30, I want to look good for 49.
“I’m all about being nice to myself.
“Everyone has that moment when they don’t want to start working out, I get it all the time.
“But once I start it’s never as bad as I’ve worked it up to be, and the feeling afterwards is amazing.”
Davina admits being a mum makes exercise all the more important.
She says: “Modern life is really taxing and we’re always doing stuff for other people — especially us mums.
“You wake up and from that moment, the kids and husband are way above you on the totem pole of importance.
“You come in from work and nobody cares or asks how you are, you sort dinner and just get on with hearing about everyone else’s day.
“I’m here to tell you that working out is YOU time.
“It’s doing something for yourself and there’s something really empowering about that.
“I felt guilty all the time when the kids were little, doing workouts and feeling I should be playing with them instead.
“But if it’s only for half an hour a few times a week, you have to know that you deserve that time.
“When I look at my daughter Holly who is just 15 and she says ‘Alright Mum, I’m just going to the gym’, I think, ‘Wow, that’s because of me’.
“She’s seen me do it and seen what I get out of it, now she’s staying healthy too. All those feelings of guilt go and I know I’m a healthy role model to my children.”
