When it comes to losing and shaping…
I know you have this big end goal, you have probably had it for a while, wether you are progressing towards it or getting ready…
To be a certain weight…
To fit into certain clothes…
Health…
Energy…
But that’s the end goal and let that be your end focus…
But don’t wait until then to acknowledge any kind of progress…
And ideally don’t focus on rewarding your self with every bit of weight lost…
Focus on rewarding your self for healthy habits…
And also when you reward yourself don’t let that reward be food!…
Kinda defies the point (Mummy petrol counts too)…
And these healthy habits you are rewarding yourself for are based on how hard it was to do for you (be honest!) and how long you maintain them…
I am going to say it, I am probably not normal (you probably knew)…
On a usual walk with Mrs Ed, if it’s Sunday, I can stop at the ice cream van and buy (one of those chocolate mint ones on a stick for me bye the way)…
But when we did the walk on a bank holiday Monday (I had been to work in the morning and exercised) then I didn’t…
I still bought one for Mrs Ed (I know apparently that’s even worse)…
It depends on your own individual objective as the balance you want to or need to strike…
But as you apply good habits acknowledge them!…
Here are some ideas: A easy to implement habit, that you do for a week= music download…
Slightly harder to implement habit one week or easier one for a month or two=book…
Good habits that are hard to implement for a month = hair stylist or pedi/mani or massage…
Two months= item of clothing, depending on the habits might be a different size?…
Four months= week end trip
Five= clothes, different size (s)…
Six= now you are cooking! Swim suit to wear on holiday or on a spa day?
More clothes??…
So have that end goal, break it down if you need to, but celebrate progress along the way…
So stick to the reward system, like you would your children, actually I would give in easily, scrub that – like a grown up!…
Only you know how hard certain habits are to start and follow, so reward your self accordingly.
Ed ( I remember explaining to Mrs Ed, my reasons for passing on said indulgence and she listened thoughtfully, then looked around at other blokes in the immediate vicinity and what other state of bloke was on offer, gave me a look that said “I would really, really like to swap you right now, anyone will do”) Stride.
